Spider - Lampshade Duplex Adaptor Converter – ShadeCore®
Our premium ShadeCore® lampshade spider allows a shade with a Duplex ring fitting to be used with a standard pendant lamp holder. It is an ideal solution for converting a Duplex lampshade into a ceiling pendant shade without replacing or permanently altering the existing frame.
The spider sits securely inside the lampshade’s Duplex ring, creating a central fitting that can be attached to the pendant lamp holder. This makes it particularly useful for handmade, replacement and decorative lampshades, as well as for updating a favourite shade to suit a different style of lighting.
The spider is manufactured with an aperture suitable for E27 European lamp holders. An E27/E26 to B22/E14 lampshade reducer and converter adapter is also included. Simply insert this reducer into the centre of the spider when you need to use it with a compatible B22 Bayonet Cap or E14 Edison Screw lamp holder.

How do I use a Converter?
- Squeeze the Adapter and install into the centre of the Spider fitting to reduce the aperture.
- Insert a Converting Washer onto the stem of the Harp System.
- Place your Spider fitting onto the thread of the Harp System, with the legs facing upwards.ensuring the Converting Washer fits into the ridge of the Adapter.
- Place the other Converting Washer on top of the Adapter, fit into the ridge, and then screw on your Finial and tighten.
- Place your lampshade over the spider, allowing the legs to cradle the Duplex Ring
- Your lampshade can now be used.

Duplex Converter Compatibility
The system includes a fitted reducer/converter adapter for UK lamp holders.
This allows the system to work with multiple common fitting types used in lampshade making.

For use with USA harp & finial fittings, converting washers can be added with the supplied adaptor system.

Important Notes
There are two standard sizes for Harp systems, 1/4" and 3/8" our Converting Washers will fit them both.

Our system works with these sizes, but If the Harp stem is bigger, you can make the hole in the washer bigger to fit.
