Add depth and texture to your lampshade range by taking advantage of our fabric pleating service.
Mushroom Pleating
Resembling the cap of a mushroom, this perennially popular pleat features densely gathered folded fabric in a seemingly randomised manner to give a rounded, natural look. Works fantastically well with our Chic and Lenette fabrics, as well as silk.
Knife Pleating
Formed by folding fabric into sharp, angular folds that resemble the blade of a knife, this classic style of pleating can be arranged in several patterns including parallel, inverted and fan-shaped. Great for adding volume and texture. Supplied on the roll.
Box Pleating
Characterised by angular folds and wide pleats, Box pleating can add uniform volume and fullness to a garment or lampshade fabric. We have many sizes and configurations available to choose from. Contact us for more information. Supplied on the roll.
Accordion Pleating
Formed by folding laminated fabric into a series of parallel, accordion-like folds. It is characterised by its regular, alternating folds that create a visually striking and textured effect. Pleat heights available 5mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm & 25mm. Can be supplied as a pre-sewn sleeve.
Frequently Asked Questions
I would like to use your service to pleat my material. Is there a minimum fabric length?
Due to set-up and operation costs, we have a minimum requirement of 25 metres of fabric. Please bear in mind that the length of material will be significantly reduced after pleating. As a general rule of thumb, 1 metre of pleated fabric will require approximately 2.8 metres of starting material.
What is the maximum width of fabric that you can pleat?
Our machines can accommodate fabric widths of up to 150cm.
Can you pleat fabric for clothing?
Yes we can! We currently offer the same range of pleating options for clothing fabric. Please get in touch to find out more.
Which fabrics work best for pleating?
Synthetic fabrics hold pleated patterns well but can be susceptible to the higher temperatures required during the pleating process. Therefore, a blend of synthetic and natural fibres such as our Chic range will hold its shape while offering a more consistent and reliable pleat. Cotton and Silk are also great options and look fantastic!
Do you require any other information about my material?
Please advise us of any coatings or chemical treatments that have been applied to your fabric so that we can take any necessary precautions and advise accordingly.
