Bias Binding
Bias binding is a long strip of fabric with pre-folded edges, typically made from cotton, polyester, or a blend like polycotton. Unlike regular fabric strips, bias binding is cut at a diagonal angle, also known as "on the bias." This diagonal cut gives the binding a unique property: it has a natural stretch along its length. This stretch allows the bias binding to easily conform to curves and rounded edges without puckering or bunching.
In lampshade manufacture, bias binding is used for two main purposes: Finishing the top and bottom edges, and hiding seams.
