About Mango Wood

Mango Wood is a hardwood with natural grain patterns and markings that can be enhanced with a variety of stains and waxes.
It is a sustainable alternative to traditional furniture woods such as Oak and Maple.

Why is Mango Wood Sustainable?

Mango Wood is grown in India and is a by-product of mango fruit production.
Unlike slower-growing hardwoods like Oak, which can take 50–100 years to mature, Mango trees grow quickly and reach full size in around 15 years.

Once they stop bearing fruit, the trees are harvested for timber and replaced with new planting, making them a renewable and sustainable material.

This lamp base is crafted from solid, unfinished mango wood, a natural material valued for its distinctive character.
Variations such as knots, colour differences, streaks, and unique grain patterns are inherent to the wood and make each piece truly individual—these are not defects. As a natural, unfinished product, the surface may feel slightly textured and may include small features such as minor cracks or splits. These are typical characteristics of real wood and do not affect the strength or longevity of the base. The wood may also respond to its environment with slight expansion or contraction. For best results and long-term protection, we recommend light sanding and sealing before use to guard against moisture, staining, and wear.

Recommended Lampshade Size

We recommend a 30cm – 35cm Drum or Conical lampshade for the best proportions.

However, the final size and style are entirely your choice – it’s all in the eye of the beholder.
